😴 Don't you think she sleeps peacefully?

ATTENTION: It's as if you were there!

We've just received 5 Reborn dolls for residents in connection with the project to revitalize the central units at CHSLD du Chêne. 🤩 Their physical features and weight are so real, it's like holding a real baby in your arms.

👩‍🍼The doll approach has many benefits. This reminiscence activity, using the senses of touch, smell and sight, stimulates emotional memory. It awakens memories and feelings in the older person, prompting him or her to verbalize.

👨‍🍼A simple doll can accompany a lonely resident. Dolls can break isolation, ease pain and facilitate communication in situations of anxiety, low mood, agitation or insomnia. By increasing the level of communication, they reduce distress and improve quality of life for people with Alzheimer's disease. *

RÉCONFORT | Say hello to Nathalie, the Suroît Hospital's new therapeutic doll!

Donated and crafted by Coteau-du-Lac resident Louise Vendette, Nathalie will provide comfort to cognitively impaired seniors hospitalized in Medicine Unit 2B.

"The use of the therapy doll has proved its worth in a unit like ours. Nathalie will be able to calm disorganized patients and allow healthcare professionals to connect and bond with patients." Marie-Krystine Laplante Beaudouin, Head of the Acute Geriatric Unit at Hôpital du Suroît.

Thanks to Mrs. Vendette for her generous donation. To find out more about Doll Therapy

What a wonderful tool! The Léa doll is used as a tool for appreciation, reminiscence or as a preventive measure to reduce anxiety in some residents. Léa's presence generates moments of tenderness and looks of wonder, but also opens the door to discussions about children, family, life and so on. Many thanks to Louise Vendette for her kindness with the elderly.

Baby doll Jonathan was well received by her pupils in June 2024. She set up a
resting area with a chair, a small bed and a chair for the doll.

Here are a few words from the students:
Jonathan helped me a lot with my exams.
I felt joy when I touched the doll.
It helps me feel less stressed in class.
The activity has helped me to calm down and gives me confidence.
